On-Call Contracts

Smith Engineering has provided varied engineering services through on-call contracts to many clients. These include the City of Albuquerque, the City of Rio Rancho, Sandia National Laboratories, Bernalillo County, the City of Deming, the Pueblo of Isleta, the City of Artesia, the Town of Silver City, the City of Roswell and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Facility (FLETC) in Artesia, NM. Several of these contracts are detailed below.

NMDOT On Call, New Mexico Department of Transportation

Smith Engineering has held an on-call contract with the NMDOT for over 10 years for both hydrology/hydraulics and general engineering services. We currently have statewide on-calls for hydrology/hydraulics and highway safety improvements.

Dona Ana County, Professional Engineering Services On Call

The Dona Ana contract was for roads, drainage systems, utilities, and facilities. The work could include system evaluations, reports, data collections, modeling, cost estimates, design, surveying, and construction services.

City of Albuquerque, Drainage Management District On-call Engineering

The Albuquerque contract for drainage engineering services has included geotechnical, environmental, surveying and construction services as well as drainage engineering services. Each of the Albuquerque projects required quick response from Smith and our sub-consultants to provide contract documents and reports.

City of Rio Rancho, On-call Engineering

The Rio Rancho contract is for transportation engineering, drainage engineering and construction services. Our work also includes geotechnical, environmental, and surveying services. Projects completed include engineering the $10M Northern Boulevard Widening, completed to NMDOT standards to obtain FHWA matching funding as well as construction services for the $1.9M Montoyas Arroyo sanitary sewer and the $3.2M Wastewater Treatment Plant Lift Station and other various drainage projects.

City of Artesia, On-call Public Works Projects

The Artesia contract included large and small projects. Two of the larger projects were the Industrial Park development and 2nd Street and Texas Avenue reconstruction, which involved grading, streets, water, sewer, gas, other utilities, a roundabout, landscaping, artwork foundations, street-scaping, and lighting. Other projects included; Grand Avenue, 37th Street, 38th Street, Lowell Street and Richardson Street reconstruction, Eagle Draw walking path, fire station parking lot, Woodbine Cemetery irrigation system and in-situ and asphalt overlay for nearly nine miles of streets throughout Artesia.

City of Albuquerque, On-call Engineering

The City of Albuquerque (COA) contract includes civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering for the City of Albuquerque public works projects as well as geotechnical, environmental, and surveying. Our projects for Albuquerque range from a storm drainage survey to a pedestrian tunnel. Specific projects include; COA Library Room air conditioning replacement, Los Altos Swimming Pool upgrades, East Side Fueling Facility with E-85 tank installation, Coal Avenue storm drain survey, Carlton Street drainage, pedestrian tunnel under Marquette Avenue, and the Tijeras Arroyo bio-zone study.

Town of Silver City, On-call Professional Engineering

The Silver City contract is for engineering streets, storm water, water and wastewater, solid waste, parks, site work, environmental permitting, traffic analysis and landscaping. Smith Engineering has had the opportunity to work on water well projects, wastewater treatment plant projects, landfill monitoring and compliance projects, and assessment and development review projects for Silver City. Smith is also currently providing the city with construction services.

City of Deming, Water and Wastewater On-call Professional Engineering

The Deming contract is for water, wastewater, and associated construction and operational assistance services. Smith engineered a 3.0 million gallon per day (MGD) wastewater treatment plant, sanitary sewer improvements, a 3.0 MG water storage tank and pump boosting station, SCADA system improvements, and assisted in regulatory permitting and operation and maintenance projects. Smith has a long and successful relationship with Deming; having been retained for three consecutive 4-year on-call engineering contracts.

NMDOT Statewide Drainage On Call, New Mexico Department of Transportation

Smith Engineering has held an on-call contract with the NMDOT for over 10 years for hydrology/hydraulics. The members of our project team have provided services similar to those required by the Jicarilla Housing Authority for communities throughout New Mexico. Projects completed as part of the Statewide Drainage On Call include the Drainage Report and Sketch Design for the proposed drainage improvements at Potter and Slane Canyons.
